Job Title: Research Services Professional (Open Rank: Entry - Senior)
Position: #00827063 - Requisition: #34944
Job Summary:
As a Research Services Professional in Debo Sardar's Lab, you will develop management and leadership skills in a new and growing research enterprise. You will also gain research exposure to a broad range of concepts in sensory neuroscience - ranging from cutting-edge next generation sequencing to in vivo technologies in mouse models. Our goal is to utilize your existing skills while simultaneously exposing you to new research that benefits both your career goals and our lab's overall productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organizing and maintaining the lab
- Purchasing orders
- Prepare lab for daily operations
- Manage and maintain laboratory reagents and inventory
- Mouse colony management
- Breeding, weaning, and maintenance of mouse colonies
- Mouse genotyping PCRs
- Co-ordinate with lab members to match animal production to experimental needs
- Harvesting mouse brain tissue
It is not required to be an expert in the above key responsibilities, since Dr. Debo Sardar will train you as needed. However, prior experience with mouse handling or colony management is desirable. Our goal together would be to complete key responsibilities efficiently such that there would be ample time to learn new research skills based on your interests. These may include performing surgeries in the mouse brain, mouse behavioral assays, high-resolution microscopy for imaging proteins in the mouse brain, analyzing next-generation sequencing data, and handling genomic data repository for the lab.
Why Join Us:
Dr. Debo Sardar's Lab is a brand new lab - you will gain administrative experience in setting up and managing a new lab. You will also gain research experience by being in an environment conducting new neuroscience research in the areas of sensory biology (systems neuroscience), glial biology (cellular neuroscience), and epigenomics (molecular neuroscience). Given the broad range of the research spanning from systems to cells to genes, you will gain exposure to a diverse array of concepts and technologies. In addition to asking exciting new questions, Dr. Sardar highly values mentoring and is dedicated to help scientists achieve their independent goals.
