This position will work on new and ongoing CEPEG projects that require survey data collection, database administration and data and data systems management. This position will oversee longitudinal participant panel maintenance, program survey instruments in Qualtrics and Redcap, manage a team of student interviewers and oversee data collection from a variety of populations through telephone, text, internet and postal mail.
Examples of Work Performed
Preparation for Field Operations: 35% Senior, 30% Principal
- Program and test survey instruments in Qualtrics or RedCAP for on-line completion
- Program rules within the WinCati system to facilitate participant release to phone center queue
- Adapt surveys to either paper format for mail completion, or web-based
- Experience with data entry best practices including survey scanning data entry using Scantron or other technology
- Develop and generate progress reports and provide regular status updates including calculating response rates, and ad hoc reports to managers and project investigators
- Recruit, hire, and supervise call center and fulfillment staff (temporary hires and students - number depends on size of survey projects)
- Oversee development of and revisions to training materials for telephone interviewers to implement best practices in survey data collection efforts
Train call center and fulfillment staff in survey best practices and operational processes
Survey Implementation: 45% Senior, 40% Principal
- Manage calling rotation schedule for SRU to achieve outreach protocol
- Maintain highest level of professionalism among call center staff by actively participating in data collection as an interviewer, implementing quality assurance standards, monitoring interviews for quality and SRU best-practices, responding to participant inquiries, and conducting interview training updates and retraining as necessary
- Provide on-site oversight, troubleshooting and problem-solving for telephone interviewers
- Maintain and implement roll-out mapping for release of participants to text, phone, e-mail, and/or postal mail contact
- Monitor operational aspects of survey administration and completion to improve processes where possible
- Develop incentives management and fulfillment protocols and coordinate with administration to fulfil paper recruitment and incentives
- Clean final datasets in preparation for the analytic team, document cleaning steps, anomalies and other data concerns and ensure accurate alignment between the survey codebook and final dataset
Hardware/Software Operations: 20% Senior, 15% Principal
- Monitor permissions, oversee hardware and software upgrades, and design and maintaining appropriate architectural approaches to ensure data consistency and database longevity
- Optimize, and maintain data management systems (REDCap database or similar) to organize and monitor longitudinal contact-panels including eligibility verifications, current contact information, survey, focus group and other data collection events and incentive tracking

Planning, Leadership and Subject Matter Expertise: 15%
- Collaborate with project investigators on project planning, timelines, data-collection methodologies; participate in planning and update meetings
- Collaborate with the investigators and evaluators to ensure alignment between research questions and survey instruments, assess data availability, and assess revisions to future iterations of longitudinal surveys
- Investigate innovative technologies and data collection/storage platforms for potential use by CEPEG
- Collaborate with investigators in survey design, language, internal logic, and other survey research best practices
- Provide leadership and independently assume responsibility to coordinate, manage and provide high level oversight for the survey research unit team and operations (see examples of work above)
- Develop data management systems (REDCap database or similar) to organize and monitor longitudinal contact-panels
- Maintain expertise in all aspects of preparing and conducting multimodal survey operations and managing data collection, and function as subject matter expert for CEPEG and partners

Work Location:
Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of at least 1 day a week on campus and 4 days a week on campus when fielding surveys. This includes some weekends and evenings.

- Substitution: Relevant experience can be substituted on a year-to-year basis for the degree.
- Total experience must be at least 2 years

- Master's Degree in Public Health or related field
- 2+ years' experience supervising staff
- Experience using a computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) system
- Experience using data management tools such as REDCap
- Experience designing surveys in Qualtrics or similar
- Experience with survey scanning software such as Scantron, SNAP or similar
- Experience with texting software such as Twilio or similar
- Experience using urls, tiny urls (Bit.ly) and QR codes
