Job Summary:

A Research Services entry Professional position is available to start September 1, 2024 in the lab of Dr. Sean Colgan in the Mucosal Immunology Program, Division of Gastroenterology at the University of Colorado Anschutz. The candidate would be working with Dr. Geetha Bhagavatula, a junior investigator and pediatric gastroenterologist, on projects aimed at understanding changes in intestinal barrier and cellular metabolism that occur in diseases that affect the gastrointestinal tract, including inflammatory bowel disease and cystic fibrosis. This position entails conducting and analyzing new and ongoing studies using cell, organoid, and mouse models of disease.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Working with the principal investigator to design, carry out, and troubleshoot experiments
  • Maintaining and using intestinal cell and organoid cultures
  • Performing mouse studies (including mouse handling/scruffing, gavage, injections, and dissections)
  • Executing molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, western blot, immunofluorescence
  • Inventory and organization of lab supplies

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics or related field
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in basic science laboratory techniques, particularly sterile cell culture
  • Experience with rodent handling

  • Strong organizational skills and time management
  • Honesty and reliability
  • Ability to work on a team and communicate effectively with peers

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as

$45,000 - $57,240

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
