The Institute for Translational Medicine and Therapeutics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of Cardiovascular science, nutrition, pharmacology, metabolism, prostanoid biology, circadian biology, and translational science. The applicant must have a minimum of 4 years postdoctoral experience with a demonstrated publication record. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.
Responsibilities may include designing, conducting and managing protocols to untangle the role of the circadian clock in metabolism and aging in mice models; conducting studies with human samples and data to investigate circadian biology and aging; collaborating closely with other scientists in ITMAT facilitating the design and conduce of research protocols using mice to understand circadian and cardiovascular biology.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to primarily carry out a research program under the direction of Dr. Garret FitzGerald. The position will also allow the candidate to grow as an independent scientist and gain eligibility to apply for funding through different mechanisms.
