JOB SUMMARY:
Clemson Extension is hiring an Extension Specialist to work cooperatively with county and state staff to plan, teach, and evaluate Extension educational programs in the area of natural resources as it relates to forestry. The specialist will have expertise in forest management, which may include silviculture, prescribed fire, and/or pesticide use as it relates to southern tree species. The specialist will be expected to develop a comprehensive Extension program to reach professional and non-professional stakeholders, and will be expected to conduct research to support this program. Dissemination of information via traditional and novel methods is desired. Other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
60% - Essential: Develop and implement a statewide natural resources programming plan of work. Collaborate with subject experts, agents, and volunteers to coordinate and deliver new natural resources programming and resources to address emerging needs in South Carolina and for the Southeastern Region. Coordinate, manage, and evaluate programs at the statewide level and collaborate with specialists, associates, agents, and program assistants.
20% - Essential: Establish yourself as a content expert at the state and national level by producing and disseminating scholarly outputs and products (publications, videos, expert presentations, validated evaluation instruments, applied research outputs, etc.) that support natural resources programming. Serve as a resource to Extension agents, regulatory personnel, and clientele within the US in the area of natural resources, wildlife, and forestry.
10% - Essential: Collaborate with natural resources team members, statewide program efforts, and other program teams in program development and delivery. Collaborate with regional and national natural resources programming efforts. Responsible for resource development, management, and sustainability to grow Extension educational programming to include grants, contracts, legal agreements, gifts, in-kind support, sponsorships, revenue generated, local and state appropriated funds and/or other types of funding.
10% - Essential: Attend or lead Extension team meetings and trainings as assigned by supervisor. Identify and participate in opportunities for self-improvement and professional development at the state, regional, and national levels. Communicate effectively, both verbally and through written correspondence, to Extension and program administrators at the state and national levels.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: 1st Doctoral / Professional Degree - Natural resources, environmental educator, or closely related field
Work Experience: 2+ years - Demonstrated experience in educational program delivery, volunteer management, or similar.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Anticipated Salary Range: ($83,200.00 - $124,800.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Essential Level 2 employee
Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
