Position overview
Position title: Nephrology Research Salary range: The posted UC salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment as determined by appointment type and if applicable, rank and/or step. The base pay range for this position is $150,000 - $250,000. Salary is negotiated annually. Additional compensation may be available if the position includes membership in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan. Position description
The Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego (http://med.ucsd.edu/) is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff, and student body. The Division of Nephrology-Hypertension (https://nephrology.ucsd.edu/) has breadth and expertise in clinical care, pathology, and clinical investigation in glomerulonephritis, and is moving to establish a center of excellence in this area. To expand scientific discovery and rapid translation from bench to bedside and bedside to bench, the Division now seeks to recruit investigators with basic/translational research expertise in glomerulonephritis and/or immunology.
The successful candidates will be responsible for conducting research in the field of glomerulonephritis and/or immunology. They will take on responsibilities in leadership and/or teaching. The selected candidates may have the opportunity to provide clinical care depending on the Division's needs and the candidate's training and experience.
The appropriate series and appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level will be based on the candidate's background and experience.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)
Candidate must have an MD or equivalent, MD/PhD, PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in health-related areas.
Candidates with an MD or equivalent must have or be eligible for a California medical license or equivalent certification/permit as determined by the Medical Board of California.
Candidates with clinical care duties must have an MD or equivalent and must be board-certified or board-eligible in Nephrology or health-related fields.
Preferred qualifications
Candidates with an established track record of extramural funding are preferred.
Candidates with a minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in glomerulonephritis and/or immunology are preferred.
