About the Opportunity

JOB SUMMARY

The Laboratory of Addiction Genetics, headed by Dr. Camron Bryant in the Center for Drug Discovery in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Northeastern University is seeking to hire a full-time technician. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of full-time experience in conducting rat survival surgeries, including femoral vein and/or jugular catheter implants and running rat through intravenous self-administration studies. The most competitive candidate will also have some basic molecular biology experience, including DNA and RNA extractions, PCR and gel electrophoresis, real-time quantitative PCR, and immunoblot/immunohistochemical procedures. The technician will work with a second technician in conducting surgical, behavioral, and molecular studies under the supervision of Dr. Bryant and a postdoc who is leading the project.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to carefully organize and analyze the data generated from experiments, have excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to carefully follow instructions. Ability to work independently, and cooperatively with others as part of a team. Highly organized, dependable, and skilled in the use of Microsoft Office software. Effective interpersonal, time management, and solution focused skills are required. These skills are normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's degree in a related field; a Master's degree is preferred. One to two years' experience working in a Lab environment.
