The University of Colorado Colorado Springs will not sponsor work visas or permanent resident applications for this position
Envision yourself in a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative work environment that has a deep commitment to position our graduates for success in their professional and personal lives. Visualize applying your energy and skills for an organization that respects and cares about its employees enough to offer some of the best benefits of the industry while encouraging every team member to grow, collaborate, and provide input on how to consistently make the workplace a place people love to work. Imagine working at a college that welcomes everyone — students, faculty, staff, and community members — regardless of their backgrounds, beliefs, or traditions. If what was just described is what you look for in a workplace, welcome to the University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS)!
Who We Are:
The Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs is seeking qualified applicants for a post-doctoral position in trauma psychology research. The fellow will work Dr. Charles Benight on an NSF-funded project conducting research-related activities, which include day-to-day research operations, data management and analysis, supervision of graduate and undergraduate research assistants as appropriate, and the preparation of manuscripts and grants.
The project centers around using multi-source data collection to understand and predict recovery and coping dynamics following acute traumatic injury. This is a two-year fellowship opportunity with the potential to extend depending on available funding. The fellow may submit their own grants during their appointment and has the opportunity to accumulate post-doctoral clinical and research hours that count toward Colorado licensure.
The Lyda Hill Institute for Human Resilience offers exceptional opportunities for a postdoctoral researcher to hone their research and professional identity, as well as explore unique research and professional development opportunities. Postdoctoral researchers have the opportunity to work directly with leading researchers in the fields of posttraumatic stress and post-trauma adaptation and recovery, as well as have access to a global network of researchers in these fields through the Institute's affiliate program. The Institute also provides excellent support in the development, submission, and administration of grant-funded research. Postdoctoral researchers also have the opportunity to grow and develop in novel research domains, namely in understanding nonlinear dynamical systems and the application of nonlinear dynamical systems to trauma-focused research. The Institute also provides opportunities to work with and learn from one of the leaders in the field of nonlinear dynamical systems.
In addition to research and professional development, postdoctoral researchers have the opportunity to grow and develop as a research mentor via close working relationships with graduate students and research assistants. These opportunities include but are not limited to collaborating on ongoing research projects, consulting on theses and dissertations, and assisting with project development. For those interested in pursuing clinical licensure, there are also opportunities to gain postdoctoral clinical hours via direct clinical service, as well as through providing clinical supervision on grant-funded research projects (as available).
Finally, postdoctoral researchers have the opportunity to work within a highly collaborative and supportive research environment that prioritizes the development and well-being of the postdoctoral researcher. The Institute provides a flexible and accommodating work environment, excellent benefits, and a light-hearted and friendly culture.
